Reality TV Hidden Palms The CW New Teen Drama
Hidden Palms is an American teen drama television series that originally aired on The CW in the United States from May 30, 2007, where it will be a summer replacement. There are currently eight scheduled episodes for the first season. The series, created by Kevin Williamson, portrays the fictional lives of a group of teenagers and their families residing in Palm Springs, California.
The series, produced by Lionsgate Television, began production in late 2006 with the tentative title Palm Springs. This was susequently leaked onto the Internet before the series premiere.
In early 2007, Hidden Palms was announced to begin on Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at 9 p.m. ET on The CW,[1] however this timeslot later become occupied by Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for the Next Doll. The series is now set to premiere on The CW on Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at 8:00pm ET.[2] Hidden Palms will premiere on June 2, 2007 at 7 PM on WGN-TV in Chicago with an encore the following night at 7 PM because of a televised baseball game between the Chicago Cubs and the Florida Marlins on Wednesday, May 30, 2007.[3]
Hidden Palms has been compared by the media to The O.C., a FOX television series created by Josh Schwartz, as its cast includes three actors who have previously had roles on The O.C.. Taylor Handley portrayed Oliver Trask for six episodes during the first season, Michael Cassidy portrayed Zach Stevens for nineteen episodes during the second season and Amber Heard made a guest appearance as a saleswoman during the episode The Mallpisode. It is also notable that during official promotional trailers for Hidden Palms, Placebo's "Running Up That Hill" is played in the background. This is a defining song that appeared during the premiere of The O.C.'s fourth season.
