Twinned Crystals Crystal twinning

Crystal twinning occurs when two separate crystals share some of the same crystal lattice points in a symmetrical manner. The result is an intergrowth of two separate crystals in a variety of specific configurations. A twin boundary or composition surface separates the two crystals. Crystallographers classify twinned crystals by a number of twin laws. These twin laws are specific to the crystal system. The type of twinning can be a diagnostic tool in mineral identification.

Simple twinned crystals may be contact twins or penetration twins. Contact twins share a single composition surface often appearing as mirror images across the boundary. Quartz, gypsum, and spinel often exhibit contact twinning. In penetration twins the individual crystals have the appearance of passing through each other in a symmetrical manner. Orthoclase, staurolite, pyrite, and fluorite often show penetration twinning.

A dobson unit is the most basic measure used in ozone research. The unit is named after G.M.B. Dobson, one of the first scientists to investigate atmospheric ozone (~1920 - 1960). He designed the 'Dobson Spectrometer' - the standard instrument used to measure ozone from the ground. The Dobson spectrometer measures the intensity of solar UV radiation at four wavelengths, two of which are absorbed by ozone and two of which are not.

Hidden Palms is an American teen drama television series that originally aired on The CW in the United States from May 30, 2007, where it will be a summer replacement. There are currently eight scheduled episodes for the first season. The series, created by Kevin Williamson, portrays the fictional lives of a group of teenagers and their families residing in Palm Springs, California.

The series, produced by Lionsgate Television, began production in late 2006 with the tentative title Palm Springs. This was susequently leaked onto the Internet before the series premiere.

In early 2007, Hidden Palms was announced to begin on Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at 9 p.m. ET on The CW,[1] however this timeslot later become occupied by Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for the Next Doll. The series is now set to premiere on The CW on Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at 8:00pm ET.[2] Hidden Palms will premiere on June 2, 2007 at 7 PM on WGN-TV in Chicago with an encore the following night at 7 PM because of a televised baseball game between the Chicago Cubs and the Florida Marlins on Wednesday, May 30, 2007.[3]

Hidden Palms has been compared by the media to The O.C., a FOX television series created by Josh Schwartz, as its cast includes three actors who have previously had roles on The O.C.. Taylor Handley portrayed Oliver Trask for six episodes during the first season, Michael Cassidy portrayed Zach Stevens for nineteen episodes during the second season and Amber Heard made a guest appearance as a saleswoman during the episode The Mallpisode. It is also notable that during official promotional trailers for Hidden Palms, Placebo's "Running Up That Hill" is played in the background. This is a defining song that appeared during the premiere of The O.C.'s fourth season.

Bra-llelujah! fails to live up to hopes

I had high hopes when I discovered that Spanx, the company famous for its tummy-tucking, line-concealing pantyhose, had added a bra to its lineup.

The all-nylon garment promises to reduce bra bulges, eliminate strap-digging and boost boobs without an underwire, thus making it a metal-free and, as the packaging claims, "airport friendly" bra.


Unfortunately, the so-called Bra-llelujah! gave me no reason to rejoice. The straps on the pullover bra are roughly an inch wide Ñ ugly, but I might have forgiven that if they'd proved functional. Alas, the bra was neither shapely nor supportive (the stretchy fabric did little to mitigate the bounce factor). Though it didn't quite flatten my bust, it gave me none of the lift I normally look for. And while it created a "smooth, sexy back," as promised, the trade-off wasn't worth it: Under a clingy T-shirt, lines showed through across my chest, thanks to multiple seams across the cups. So, as bras go, Bra-llelujah! is, well, a total bust.

MEXICO CITY Ð First, Miss USA Rachel Smith slipped and fell on her bottom during the Miss Universe evening gown competition Monday. Then she was booed by hundreds in the Mexican audience.

The treatment of the Tennessee beauty queen was nothing personal. It had more to do with Mexico's sometimes tense relationship with its northern neighbor.

U.S. athletes have sparked a similar response. Mexican crowds booed the U.S. national anthem, and some chanted "Osama! Osama!" during soccer games against the U.S. in 2004 and 2005.

Ms. Smith was booed repeatedly during her stay in Mexico, including when she carried a guitar and wore an Elvis-style suit during a parade of national costumes in downtown Mexico City.

She kept her poise during an interview Monday night with pageant judges, despite the boos and chants of "Mexico! Mexico!"

"I am very passionate about education, and being in South Africa sparked my interest in that," said Ms. Smith, a journalism graduate who volunteered for a month at talk show host Oprah Winfrey's Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa.

Then she paused, smiled and spoke in Spanish. "Buenas noches, Mexico. Muchas gracias!" which earned her some applause and some chuckles.

Miss Japan Riyo Mori, who won the crown, opened her interview with "Hola, Mexico!" to cheers and claps.

Am 29. August 1985 erblickte ich das Licht der Welt in Grabs SG. Dort verbrachte ich jedoch nur die ersten Monate meines Lebens. Danach zog meine Familie und ich nach KŸsnacht ZH. Besonders habe ich die Urlaube in Thailand und in der Karibik genossen. Da ich auch schon als Kind immer viel rumgekommen bin muss ich auch heute noch mindestens einmal im Jahr die Mšglichkeit haben einen Strand-Urlaub zu machen.
Mit 16 habe ich eine kaufmŠnnische Lehre angefangen und nach drei Jahren erfolgreich beendet. Danach genoss ich ein Jahr meine Ruhe und nutzte die Zeit um wieder auf Reisen zu gehen. Nach meiner Auszeit beschloss ich mich wieder der Ausbildung zu widmen. Soeben habe ich die eidgenšssische Matura (Abitur) abgeschlossen und freue mich auf den Studienbeginn im September.



¥ Mein Traummann

Mit meinem Traummann muss ich auf jeden Fall witzige wie auch interessante und ernste GesprŠche fŸhren kšnnen. Ich bin sehr liebesbedŸrftig, daher benštigt der Mann meiner TrŠume doch ab und zu genug Zeit, um ausgiebig mit mir zu kuscheln. Da ich selbst Tiere Ÿber alles liebe, muss er auf jeden Fall auch einen Draht zu ihnen haben. Es ist mir wichtig, dass er meine Ansichten und Meinungen versteht und auch respektiert. Auf einen gewissen Typ Mann stehe ich nicht. Auf jeden Fall gefallen mir grosse, dunkelhaarige und sportliche MŠnner. Aber auch hier kann die Ausnahme die Regel brechen. ¥ Mein Traummann

NatŸrlich macht man sich Gedanken darŸber, wie der Traummann so sein sollte. Aber da man ja sagt: Es kommt immer anders als man denkt, habe ich das eigentlich nie wirklich getan. Ich habe vielmehr darauf gewartet, dass ich irgendwann jemandem begegne, der mich innerhalb von Sekundenbruchteilen so fasziniert, dass mir automatisch klar ist, dass das dann mein Traummann sein muss. Es sollte eben einen ãMagic-MomentÒ geben, der keine Fragen offen lŠsst. Wie in den Hollywood-Liebeskomšdien, die ich mir so gerne ansehe. Und was soll ich sagen: Ausdauer wird belohnt! ¥ Mein Leben

Ich wurde am 25.05.1983 in Rosenheim geboren. Rosenheim liegt in der NŠhe von MŸnchen. Nach der Wirtschaftsschule habe ich eine Ausbildung zur Bankkauffrau abgeschlossen. Nebenbei habe ich mein Abitur nachgeholt. Zur Zeit mache ich ein Abendstudium zum Wirtschaftsfachwirt und danach mšchte ich Psychologie studieren. Mein Traum ist es, irgendwann eine eigene Praxis zu eršffnen. Um meine Ausbildung zu finanzieren arbeite ich hin und wieder bei meinem Vater im SchmuckgeschŠft oder als Model.

Da meine ModelauftrŠge immer mehr werden habe ich mich vor ein paar Monaten selbstŠndig gemacht. Ich bin deshalb šfter im Ausland unterwegs und habe schon viele Trauminseln gesehen z.B. Seychellen, Mauritius, Bahamas ... im Februar war ich einen Monat in Thailand, aber dieses mal im Urlaub. Ich interessiere mich fŸr andere Kulturen und mšchte am liebsten die ganze Welt bereisen.

¥ Mein Leben

Ich bin am 06. Juni 1985 in Iwano-Frankowsk (Ukraine) geboren und habe dort zehn Jahre lang gelebt und bin dort zur Schule gegangen. Meine Eltern sind beide Ukrainer, jedoch habe ich auch polnische und sogar kubanische Vorfahren. Auf meine Wurzeln bin ich sehr stolz und nehme jede Mšglichkeit wahr, um in die Ukraine zu meinen Gro§eltern zu fahren. Mein Vater lebt immer noch in der Ukraine, meine Mutter ist vor elf Jahren mit mir nach Deutschland gekommen und hat hier geheiratet. Aus dieser Ehe ist auch mein Bruder Robert entstanden. Mittlerweile besteht diese Ehe nicht mehr und meine Mutter lebt in Frankfurt.

Nach der 4. Klasse in der Grundschule bin ich aufs Gymnasium in Wei§enfels gegangen und habe dort 2005 mein Abitur gemacht. Jetzt wohne und studiere ich in Jena. ¥ Mein Leben

¥ Mein Shooting

Das Playboy Shooting war eine ganz tolle Erfahrung fŸr mich. Ich war vorher Ÿberhaupt nicht aufgeregt und habe mich tierisch auf das Shooting gefreut. Ich habe gedacht: Wow! Der Playboy will dich, Dani! Was fŸr eine Ehre.
Schon am Flughafen MŸnchen wurde ich sehr nett empfangen und so nett sollte es auch weiter gehen. Nachdem mich die Visagistin ãbearbeitetÒ hatte, konnte ich mich im Spiegel kaum wieder erkennen. Sie hatte aus mir eine wahnsinnig sexy Frau gemacht. Ich fŸhlte mich mit dem Make Up und den Haaren sofort wohl. Auch das folgende Fotoshooting war super. Ein absolut professionelles Team aus knapp zehn Leuten, die alle um mich herumtŸdelten. Es macht mir gar nichts aus, zum Teil splitternackt zwischen ihnen herum zu laufen. Das einzig unangenehme waren die Temperaturen in der Waschstra§e. Ich habe brutal gefroren, aber ich glaube, da ist es anderen Playmates schon kŠlter ergangen. ¥ Mein Traummann

Mal ganz ehrlich Ð zuerst geht man nach der Optik, darum fange ich damit an. Mein Traummann sollte grš§er sein als ich (bei 1,68m wohl kein Problem). Er sollte sportlich sein und eine nette Ausstrahlung haben. Haarfarbe und Augenfarbe sind mir egal, denn daran kann man nicht festmachen, ob mir der Typ gefŠllt. Auch sportlich rasierte Glatzen finde ich sehr attraktiv.
Nun zu den Eigenschaften: mein Traummann sollte sich gut benehmen kšnnen und auf jeden Fall tierlieb sein. NatŸrlich sollte er auch ehrlich sein, denn das ist das wichtigste fŸr mich in einer Beziehung. Selbst wenn ich der Meinung bin, dass MŠnner nicht ewig treu sein kšnnen, sollten sie wenigstens ehrlich sein. Mein Traummann sollte gleiche Interessen wie ich haben und keine faule Socke sein. Based on her height and weight as published in her centerfold data sheet, Scott's body mass index of 21.3 is the highest of any Playmate since Playboy began publishing Playmate data sheets in July 1977, although according to data in Playboy's Playmate directory [1], Rosemarie Hillcrest Miss October 1964, had a body mass index of 23.4.

Scott is, of course, atypical. In the 1990s, the typical Playmate body mass index is 18. According to a study published in British Medical Journal, body mass indexes of Playmates have been declining, over the past 50 years. However, the weight of the models has remained fairly stable; their height increased.

In the 1950s, the most attractive female body mass index was considered to be about 20, and the centerfolds reflected this. The optimum waist to hip ratio was believed to be slightly lower than 0.7. Over time, the bust and hip size of the models decreased, while waist size increased.

These findings are at odds with claims that Playmates' body shapes are still more 'hourglass' than in previous decades and that the maximally sexually attractive female waist to hip ratio is constant.

Early life

Walcott was born to a family of four children. She was a cheerleader and a dancer growing up. In 1995, she graduated from Lowellville High School.[1] Walcott wanted to be a veterinarian, mostly because she had many pets at her house.

In October 1996, at the age of nineteen, Walcott visited Los Angeles and decided to move there. The first few years in L.A. were rough for Walcott as she worked two jobs while taking business classes at Santa Monica College.[1] In 2000, Walcott temporarily moved to Chicago to be close to her grandmother who was very ill and when her grandmother died Walcott decided to move back to Los Angeles.


After her move back to Los Angeles, Walcott decided to become a model. In late 2000 and early 2001, she attended many Playboy parties and was scheduled to shoot in mid-2001. She was chosen the Playmate of the Month for August 2001. [2] She subsequently launched her own website, and appeared in many Playboy videos. In 2005, Walcott starred in American Pie: Band Camp. In 2006, Walcott is starring as a stripper in Toxic. She is now the spokesperson for Ciclon rum. She is also the new Mickey's girl.[1]

Walcott was chosen as a finalist to compete in the 2006 WWE Diva Search[1], but dropped out due to conflicts with other projects.


She dates Chicago Bear's SS Adam Archuleta. [3] She also continues to use her fame to help others she currently volunteers at the Ronald McDonald house in DC

Danelle Marie Folta (born April 19, 1969) is an American model and actress. She was selected as Playboy magazine's Playmate of the Month for April 1995, and her centerfold was photographed by Arny Freytag. Folta has appeared in several Playboy videos and special editions, working steadily for Playboy as a model for more than five years following her centerfold appearance.

Folta continued an affiliation with Playboy by founding a team of Playmates who ventured into the world of extreme adventure racing as the Playboy Xtreme Team. Folta was captain of the four-member team, "Team Playboy X-treme", that completed the 2000 Eco-Challenge in Borneo, together with Playmates Jennifer Lavoie and Kalin Olson and United States Marine Corps Captain Owen West.

Folta further pursued her adventurous nature by embarking on a career as a stunt woman, working on such features as "Snow Dogs"[1] and "All About the Benjamins[2]. Her career, however, suffered a temporary setback when she contracted Fasciitis Necroticans during the 2002 Eco-Challenge in Fiji. Due to her affliction, Folta was forced to withdraw from the competition, and thus the Playboy Xtreme Team -- also consisting of Playmates Kalin Olson and Carrie Yazel and Alaska Pacific University Professor Roman Dial, Ph.D. (Environmental Sciences) -- was not able to complete its second Eco-Challenge.

20th Century Fox has optioned Folta's life rights for a full length feature film detailing her quest to build the Playboy X-treme Team.

As of February '07, Folta resides in Los Angeles, CA with her husband, Jason Miller. She makes personal appearances at Glamourcon and other fan appreciation events.

DVD Movie Porn Star Barbie Cummings Says State Trooper Took Her Picture

LEBANON, Tenn. - The Tennessee Highway Patrol placed a state trooper on paid leave as it investigates allegations that he had sex with an adult performer during a traffic stop.

Actress Barbie Cummings said trooper James Randy Moss pulled her over for speeding on May 7 in Wilson County. She was traveling to Knoxville.

Moss found alcohol and some prescription painkillers inside of her car.

Cummings said she told Moss what she did for a living. Then the pair allegedly went to a nearby secluded area where Moss took several pictures and video of Cummings.

Cummings' account of what happened appeared on her Web site and blog. One of the trooper's co-workers reported Moss.

Cummings met with investigators and turned over the photos and video taken by Moss.

Within a news release, the Tennessee Highway Patrol confirmed that Moss was placed on paid leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

The news release also stated that the allegations included possible violations of departmental policies and possible criminal violations while on duty.
